Our Story
Ella Country House sits on Beeri Ella Pathana Wellawaya Road, on the calm side of town — a short walk from the railway station and the restaurants on Main Street, but far enough up the hill that what you hear from the balcony is the valley rather than the traffic.
The apartments are large and unfussy: an extra-large bed, a sofa to sink into, a work desk, a proper bath, and a balcony pointed at the mountains. Guests score us 9.0 overall and 9.5 for our staff — we will book your guide, call your driver, and carry breakfast up to your balcony.

Things to Do
Nine Arch Bridge, Little Adam's Peak, Ella Rock, Ravana Falls and Ravana Cave are all within reach of the front door — as are the quieter ones most visitors miss, like Nildiya Pokuna and the Secret Falls. Our tour desk books guides and drivers, and there are bicycles for hire if you would rather go alone.
The colonial-era viaduct curving through the jungle at Demodara — best timed for a train crossing. Walk it through the tea, or take a tuk-tuk from the gate; we keep the timetable at the desk.
The classic Ella hike, and the one you can see from the balcony. Set off before dawn along the railway line and up through the tea, and be back in time for a late breakfast.
The closest thing to us on the map, and the best way to spend a wet afternoon. Learn the spices growing in the garden, then cook the rice and curry you have been eating all week.
The gentlest of Ella's climbs and the pick of the sunsets. Tea fields the whole way up, and Ella Rock facing you across the valley when you get there.

We are on Beeri Ella Pathana Wellawaya Road, a short walk from Ella Railway Station and about 83 km from Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport. Check-in is from 14:00 to 18:00 and check-out from 05:00 to 12:00 — tell us your train time and we will have the room and the kettle ready. Free private parking on site.
